The road in

Four exits. No shortcuts.

Federal ELDT rules set the order. Here's every stop between you and your CDL, and where Cabwright rides along.

EXIT 1

Your permit (CLP)

Pass your state's knowledge tests and hold your Commercial Learner's Permit at least 14 days before the skills test.

Cabwright: coaching + test prep
EXIT 2

DOT medical card

A physical with an examiner on FMCSA's National Registry. You need it before your CDL can be issued.

Cabwright: we walk you through it
EXIT 3

ELDT theory + road

Theory and behind-the-wheel training with a provider listed on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry.

Cabwright: study prep + provider handoff
EXIT 4

Skills test, first seat

Pre-trip, basic control, on-road driving. Get your CDL, then pick your first carrier with real pay numbers.

Cabwright: coaching through your first job

Cabwright is coaching and exam prep only. It is not an ELDT theory provider and does not report ELDT completions. You complete ELDT theory and behind-the-wheel training with a Registry-listed provider.

What's included

Your pre-trip, already checked.

One coaching package. No upsell chapters, nothing held back behind a second paywall.

Real pay numbers

What new drivers actually earn.

Plenty of sites quote "starter pay" that's off by 100x. These are first-year figures from the carriers' own pages, converted to weekly.

CarrierWhat you'll see claimedReal first-year figure
Roehl$137,500/wk≈ $1,346/wk"on track to make $70,000+/yr"
Prime Inc.$135,000/wk≈ $1,250/wkfirst-year average $65k+/yr
Schneider$125,000/wk≈ $1,190/wkfirst-year average $61,864/yr

Sanity check: the Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the median for all heavy truck drivers at $58,640/yr (≈ $1,128/wk). Figures read October 15, 2026, and vary by division, fleet and miles.

Your coach

Still in the driver's seat.

Michael still drives. He coaches new drivers the way he wishes someone had coached him: the real sequence, the real numbers, and the paperwork nobody warns you about until you're standing at the counter.

"If we can't source it, we label it or leave it out."

He films his own gauges airing up to teach the air-brake numbers. The pay figures come from the carriers and the BLS, with the disagreements left in.

100%REFUND

The guarantee, in plain terms

If the prep course doesn't cover all five areas of the federal ELDT theory curriculum, you get your money back in full. It doesn't promise ELDT credit, a job, a salary or a timeline. Anyone who guarantees you a seat is selling you something.

Straight answers

Before you book.

Still have questions? Bring them to the call.

Can I get my CDL 100% online?

No. ELDT theory can be done online with a Registry-listed provider, but behind-the-wheel training happens in person and the skills test is in a real truck. Cabwright preps you and coaches the whole sequence.

What does the coaching package cover?

The 12-lesson prep course, six live 1-hour Zoom calls, permit coaching, the DOT medical walkthrough, the behind-the-wheel handoff, carrier coaching and email access to Michael.

Does this count for ELDT?

No. Cabwright is coaching and exam prep. ELDT completions only count when reported by a provider listed on FMCSA's Training Provider Registry.

What if I already have my permit or medical card?

Then you start further down the road. Your coaching picks up from wherever you are.

What happens on the call?

You tell Michael where you are, what's in your way, and what you want. He tells you straight whether Cabwright fits, and what your next steps are either way.
